Subscribing to a Region and Creating Compartments

Building a comprehensive network architecture requires a systematic approach, starting from the foundational elements. Let’s delve into the initial steps of our journey.

Subscribing to a Region

Before we proceed, it’s essential to ensure that we are subscribed to the appropriate region within our cloud platform. This step lays the groundwork for housing our network resources efficiently.

  1. Accessing the Console: Begin by accessing the console of your cloud service provider. Upon entry, navigate to the subscription section.
  2. Selecting the Desired Region: Within the subscription settings, locate the option to manage regions. Here, you can choose the region of your preference. For instance, if targeting the Phoenix region, select it accordingly.
  3. Subscribing to the Region: Once the desired region is identified, initiate the subscription process by clicking on the designated button. Review any pertinent information provided before confirming your selection.
  4. Confirmation and Activation: After confirming your subscription, the region will transition from the unsubscribe section to the subscribed category. This indicates successful activation, and you’re now poised to proceed with building your network infrastructure.

Creating Compartments

With the region subscription secured, the next step involves setting up compartments to organize our resources effectively.

  1. Accessing Identity and Security: Within the console, navigate to the Identity and Security section.
  2. Locating Compartments: Under the Identity and Security tab, find the option for managing compartments. Depending on the platform, you may encounter identity domains before accessing compartments. Click through as necessary.
  3. Creating a New Compartment: If the desired compartment doesn’t exist, proceed to create one by selecting the appropriate option. Provide a name for the compartment; for instance, let’s designate it as “Architecture.”
  4. Optional Description: While not mandatory, adding a brief description can aid in distinguishing the purpose of the compartment.
  5. Confirmation and Deployment: Upon creation, the new compartment is ready for use. Refresh the interface if needed to ensure it’s visible. Now, you’re all set to commence resource deployment within the designated compartment.

Conclusion

In this phase of our network architecture development, we’ve established the groundwork by subscribing to a region and creating a dedicated compartment for our resources. These foundational steps pave the way for seamless expansion and management as we progress further in building our real-world network architecture.
